PARIS (AP) Representatives of French football clubs are taking their anger at a planned super-tax on player salaries to the president himself.
France's pro clubs are threatening to cancel all games one weekend next month in protest over the tax, targeting salaries over 1 million euros a year.
President Francois Hollande met Thursday with the football officials, but neither side appeared willing to budge. Hollande said last week that he plans to stick with the tax plan, which the Socialist government says is aimed at reining in huge salaries at a time of high unemployment and economic difficulties for ordinary workers.
The tax, under discussion in Parliament, would be put in place for two years and require employers to pay 50 percent in tax on big salaries.
