New Zealand Football's dreams of following Australia into the Asian Football Confederation look likely to face numerous obstacles.
Australia's riding a wave of success after hosting and the Socceroos winning a hugely successful Asian Cup this month.
NZF High Performance Director Fred de Jong says they want to be aligned with Asia.
But, he says Australia had to pay their way into that Confederation and some Middle-East countries still aren't enamoured by it.
"What it does do to them is add a lot to their travel to get to Australia, and should New Zealand ever get in there that would add a lot to their travel as well."
