Football: Marcelo claims Gareth Bale doesn't speak in Real Madrid dressing room

In six years since leaving Tottenham for Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid, Welsh footballer Gareth Bale hasn't taken to the local language.

Madrid defender Marcelo has a spot next to Bale in the dressing room, and told Marca they had to communicate in gestures.

He said after the departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kiko Casilla he is now lonely in the dressing room.

"I had a very good relationship with Cristiano, his family and his girlfriend," he said.

"I played nine years with him and it's normal to be sad. [I was also sad] with [the departure of] Kiko Casilla, who was sitting next to me [in the dressing room]. Every day I was saying, 'How are you Kiko, how are you doing?' and now I have no one next to me.

"Now I have no one by my side, I have Bale on the other side, but Bale does not speak, he only speaks English, we speak with gestures and say "hi, hello and good wine."'

The claims come as unrest begins to grow again about Bale's future at the club. Despite the Welsh star claiming he's happy where he is, there was growing speculation that he was looking to move on from Madrid.

Since leaving the Premier League, Bale has often been linked with a move back - with Manchester United usually the team thought to be chasing his signature.

In 217 appearances for Real Madrid, Bale has scored 100 goals. He's given Real Madrid supporters unforgettable moments, however fans have grown frustrated with the number of injuries the 29-year-old seems to pick up.
