Soon after the break, Browne, back for his second stint at the club, launched his shot into the top corner to double the lead in the 50th minute. Lopez scored a double in the 67th minute and then Tasman got one back two minutes later when a goalmouth scramble saw Jordan Vale turn the ball into his own net.
Elsewhere Team Wellington, Hamilton Wanderers and the Canterbury United Dragons all claimed three points to follow up Eastern Suburbs' impressive start to the season yesterday.
Team Wellington, the finalists from the past three seasons of the ISPS Handa Premiership, bounced back from their Charity Cup loss when they defeated the Wellington Phoenix Reserves 4-1 at Westpac Stadium.
The home side started the stronger of the two teams and deservedly took the lead in the 20th minute when Calvin Harris guided the ball into the top left corner to get the Phoenix Reserves' season off to a flying start.
But the Jose Figueira-coached side came back into the contest with midfielder Andy Bevin delivering a standout performance as he scored one goal and set up two others.
Team Wellington, who will make their FIFA Club World Cup debut in the UAE in December, produced some quick inter-passing to find space for Mario Barcia to slot home in the 29th minute. Team Wellington took the lead in the 40th minute with a brilliant ball being played in by Henry Cameron to find Bevin at the near post to head it past the Phoenix Reserves keeper Zac Jones. The two-time champions went into the sheds with a 2-1 lead and there was more to come after the break.
In the 56th minute, Reuben Way was judged to have fouled Hamish Watson in the box and the former Wellington Phoenix forward stepped up and converted the penalty for a 3-1 lead.
Soon after, Cameron had one of his own. The All Whites midfielder found himself unmarked at the back post and drove a powerful shot into the bottom right corner to continue Team Wellington's second half dominance and make the final score 4-1.
Further south, the Canterbury United Dragons edged Southern United 1-0 in a hard-fought encounter at English Park in Christchurch. The Willy Gerdsen-coached team, who made the semi-finals of the ISPS Handa Premiership in 2017 β 18, took the lead in the 36th minute when Sean Liddicoat found the back of the net.
A perfect ball from Stephen Hoyle found space in behind the Southern United defence and Liddicoat ran onto it, and hit a well-placed shot into the bottom left corner past a diving Liam Little.
It was the defining moment in the match and despite a number of chances for both sides, the scoreline remained 1-0 after 90 minutes. The most notable chance for Southern United landed to Markus Fjortoft who hit his header straight at the Dragons' keeper Conor Tracey soon after half-time.
In the closing stages, the Dragons could have doubled their lead when Cory Mitchell hit a fine shot but was denied by the woodwork. At the other end, Southern United keeper Little produced arguably the save of the match when Maksym Kowal went one-on-one with the keeper and he came off his line to make a timely save.
Canterbury United Dragons coach Willy Gerdsen was happy to secure the three points in a tough first-up fixture.
"I think we clearly dominated the game," said Gerdsen. "I am very happy with the performance. We created around 8-9 clear goal scoring opportunities and on another day it could have been 3-0. But I am very happy with the performance both in and out of possession."
Hamilton Wanderers also secured their first win of the ISPS Handa Premiership in their opening week with an impressive 3-1 victory at Porritt Stadium in Hamilton.
The Ricki Herbert-coached team, who won only one game last season as they claimed the wooden spoon, showed what they are capable of in a clinical opening half to start the season.
Forward Tommy Semmy set the tone in the early exchanges when he beat a huge number of Waitakere United defenders to score a great solo goal in the 15th minute.
Seven minutes later, Uruguayan centre-forward Martin Bueno doubled the lead before Semmy, the Papua New Guinea international, had his second for a 3-0 lead at the break.
It was a dream start for Wanderers and even though Waitakere United scored midway through the second half through Sanni Issa, the result was decided by the hosts' fast start.
Eastern Suburbs opened their season on Saturday with a 5-0 win over Hawke's Bay United in Auckland, but all of the players in the ISPS Handa Premiership will have the well-being of Browne and Wilson on their minds tonight as they reflect on Match Week Two.
