Football: Gianluigi Buffon signs pitch invader's shirt while ball is in play

Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon was so comfortable in goal against Liechtenstein that he decided to sign a pitch invader's shirt when the ball was still in play.

Italy ran out emphatic 4-0 winners against their opponents in the World Cup qualifying fixture and Buffon enjoyed a quiet night in between the posts.

With the Italians dominating the match, a fan seized his chance and ran to Buffon in the Italian net on Saturday.

The 38-year-old goalkeeper could have easily told the pitch invader to get off the pitch but he didn't, and ended up signing his shirt instead.

However, Buffon will be hoping this doesn't turn into a regular occurrence, especially if the match is a lot tighter than the one on Saturday night.

Italy cruised to victory in Liechtenstein thanks to a double from Andrea Belotti and goals from Antonio Candreva and Circo Immobile.

The victory ensured Italy remain level on points with Spain at the top of World Cup qualifying Group G. Both sides have 10 points from their opening four games but Spain currently sit above Italy with a much better goal difference.

The Italians next face Germany in a friendly match at San Siro on Tuesday, November 15 before the players go back to their respective clubs.

After a long spell with their clubs, the Italians will resume their international duties when they face a qualifying match with Albania.
