Wellington Phoenix fans who might have hoped Marco Rojas would return to the capital are out of luck with news the All Whites winger has signed a two-year deal with the Melbourne Victory this afternoon.
Rojas spent two seasons with Melbourne Victory, winning the 2012-13 Johnny Warren medal after a stunning season, before signing with German Bundesliga side Vfb Stuttgart in 2013.
But he saw little game time with Stuttgart, and was loaned to German second-tier side Greuther Furth before a more successful stint with Swiss side Thun last season. This week he agreed a contract termination with Stuttgart.
The 24-year-old had a medical at Melbourne today and his signing was announced soon after.
He will replace All Whites teammate Kosta Barbarouses on the right wing - Barbarouses has returned to Wellington this season - and becomes Kevin Muscat's fourth visa signing after Spanish defender Alan Baro joined Besart Berisha and Fahid Ben Khalfallah.
