Rio Ferdinand is right. Liverpool and United lack quality

Within 20 minutes of the clash at Anfield, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand took to Twitter to say: "Lacking quality so far in this game! Booting the ball out of play here for fun!!" It's going to take a while for the northwest duo to get anywhere near Manchester City and Arsenal as they are both severely lacking quality.

Wayne Rooney continues to score in streaks

You just cannot write him off, can you? Rooney failed to score in five games before United's win against Swansea at the start of January. He has since followed up his winner against the Welsh outfit with a late penalty to settle United's FA Cup clash with Sheffield United and scored a brace at Newcastle. He remains United's best outfield player despite the millions of pounds the club have forked out on fresh talent.

Christian Benteke deserves another chance to lead line

He may not have been Jurgen Klopp's signing but Liverpool surely need to put more faith in their 32.5 million ($72 million) recruit following his summer move from Aston Villa. A player of Benteke's build would have surely frightened the life out of Daley Blind and Ashley Young.

Manchester United need Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo back

Injured defensive duo Jones and Rojo were in the stands to cheer on their teammates but Louis van Gaal needs them to be more than cheerleaders. Jones has played just 13 games for United this season due to injuries, while Rojo hasn't played since November due to a shoulder injury.

The Red Devils would be in bottom half without David de Gea

David de Gea hailed Manchester United's support for welcoming him back to Old Trafford, however the roles should be reversed. De Gea made three superb saves to give his teammates the platform to snatch the win in the 78th minute. It will not be long until he replaces Manuel Neuer as the world's best goalkeeper.
