RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) Flamengo defeated Atletico Paranaense 2-0 to win its third Brazilian Cup title on Wednesday.
Midfielder Elias scored in the 87th minute and striker Hernane sealed the victory four minutes into stoppage time, giving the Rio de Janeiro club the title in front of nearly 60,000 fans at a packed Maracana Stadium.
The teams had drawn the first leg 1-1 last week in Curitiba.
With the triumph, Flamengo secures a spot in next year's Copa Libertadores, Latin America's top club competition.
Brazil's most popular club, Flamengo won its two other Brazilian Cup titles in 1990 and 2006.
