RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) Flamengo says a Rio de Janeiro court is allowing the team to charge higher prices for tickets in the Brazilian Cup final against Atletico Paranaense.
Another court on Thursday had ordered the popular Brazilian club to reduce the prices by nearly 50 percent, saying they were abusive. Flamengo said it won the appeal on Friday.
The club is charging from $110-$350 for the Nov. 27 match, significantly more than usual. Club officials argue that most tickets will be sold at discounted prices and that Flamengo is entitled to raise prices for the high-demand match, a common practice in Brazil.
Flamengo says it has already sold 40,000 tickets for the match at Maracana Stadium, which is the return leg of the home-and-away series. The first match is Wednesday in Curitiba.
