ZURICH (AP) FIFA has banned Zimbabwe midfielder Devon Chafa for six months after he tested positive for doping at a World Cup qualifying match.
FIFA says Chafa must miss "all types of matches, including domestic, international, friendly and official fixtures."
He can appeal the suspension, which runs through the end of February.
Chafa tested positive for a glucocorticosteroid called prednisone after playing in Zimbabwe's 4-2 loss against Egypt on June 9 in Harare. Zimbabwe finished last in the group won by Egypt.
He will miss the 2014 African Nations Championship, a competition for home-based players kicking off in January in South Africa.
