SAO PAULO (AP) Brazil's sports tribunal has suspended Argentine midfielder Damian Escudero for 30 days after he failed a doping test in the Brazilian league.
Escudero tested positive for a banned corticoid after a Vitoria match in July. He has already served the suspension while waiting for his trial and is clear to play.
The midfielder blamed the failed test on sinus medication administered by team doctors. The tribunal late Monday also suspended Vitoria chief doctor Ivan Carilo Pinto for a year.
Escudero, who previously played for Villarreal in Spain and Boca Juniors in Argentina, faced a two-year suspension.
