KEY POINTS:
LONDON - Brief reports of Premier League matches played overnight:
ARSENAL 1 MANCHESTER CITY 0
Manchester City's flying start to the season came to an end as Cesc Fabregas got the only goal 10 minutes from time.
City, who won their first three games, looked on course for a draw and a fourth consecutive clean sheet after keeper Kasper Schmeichel saved Robin van Persie's second-half penalty. City had good chances but got caught when Alexander Hleb set up Fabregas for the winner.
ASTON VILLA 2 FULHAM 1
Shaun Maloney snatched all three points for Villa with an injury-time winner.
Clinton Dempsey had put Fulham ahead after six minutes but Villa deservedly equalised in the 51st when Zat Knight put through his own net under pressure from Ashley Young.
Fulham had Chris Baird sent off for a second booking in the 68th minute and Villa raised the tempo to earn the win.
BOLTON WANDERERS 3 READING 0
Bolton's first points of the season came from an emphatic win.
Gary Speed headed them into a 32nd-minute lead and El-Hadji Diouf's through ball set up Nicolas Anelka for a simple second.
Bolton were in command and it was no surprise when Anelka crossed for substitute Daniel Braaten to make it three in the last minute.
CHELSEA 1 PORTSMOUTH 0
Chelsea remained unbeaten but had to battle to hold off a brave Portsmouth challenge.
Frank Lampard, on target in midweek for England, fired in the only goal from the edge of the box after a Didier Drogba knock-down.
DERBY COUNTY 1 BIRMINGHAM CITY 2
Cameron Jerome got both Birmingham goals as Steve Bruce's side chalked up their first win of the season against fellow-promoted club Derby County.
Birmingham blasted into a first-minute lead when Jerome converted a Mikael Forssell cross.
Derby eventually settled and levelled through Matt Oakley six minutes into the second half but Birmingham hit back with Jerome's second in the 63rd to leave the hosts with just one point from their first four games back in the top flight.
EVERTON 1 BLACKBURN ROVERS 1
It was an emotional occasion at Goodison Park as the crowd observed a minute's applause for 11-year-old Everton fan Rhys Jones who was shot dead on Wednesday.
When the action got underway Blackburn went ahead when Roque Santa Cruz bundled in a shot in the 15th minute.
Everton picked up the pace in the second half and got a deserved equaliser in the 78th when James McFadden volleyed in a low Mikel Arteta cross, though they needed a great save by Tim Howard in injury time to hang on to the point.
SUNDERLAND 0 LIVERPOOL 2
Mohamed Sissoko and Andriy Voronin scored their first league goals as Liverpool maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 win over promoted Sunderland.
Sissoko scored Liverpool's 7,000th goal in league football to put them ahead after 37 minutes and Voronin wrapped up the points with an angled shot in the closing minutes after a well-worked move.
WEST HAM UNITED 1 WIGAN 1
After a tight battle, the game blasted into life near the end with two goals inside three minutes.
A Paul Scharner overhead kick 12 minutes from time raised Wigan's hopes and was probably a fair reward for their efforts but a rare goal for Lee Bowyer in the 81st minute ensured a share of the spoils.
