Jets striker Francis Jeffers has an ankle injury and will miss Wednesday's A-League clash with Gold Coast in Newcastle.
Jeffers will undergo scans but the injury is only thought to be minor and it's hoped he will be on deck for the Jets trip to Melbourne Victory on Saturday.
The former English Premier League striker rolled his ankle after scoring in the 1-1 draw with Perth on New Year's Eve.
The 30-year-old former Arsenal and Everton player had an action-packed cameo, going on in the 56th minute, scoring six minutes later and hobbling off four minutes after the goal due to a collision with goalkeeper Danny Vukovic.
Midfielder Kasey Wehrman, who delivered the pass for Jeffers to head home against the Glory, said it's a shame to lose the marksman.
"Missing him is a big blow... I thought if he stayed on the pitch the other night for the last 20 minutes, we probably would have won the game," he said.
"I think he's just a bit bruised and battered and we're hopeful he's only out for a week."
