A bid by Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner Malcolm Glazer to gain full control of English soccer club Manchester United is to be reviewed by the NFL's finance committee.
Glazer and his family can borrow up to US$125 million ($176.13 million) using the team as collateral, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said on Friday.
"The committee is just going to look for issues of concern," Aiello said.
Buccaneers general manager Bruce Allen said the Glazers had not used any part of the team for collateral, adding that the Manchester United deal "won't change anything we've been doing".
"Throughout the world, they're going to be talking about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers," Allen said.
In 2004, Forbes magazine valued the Buccaneers at US$779 million, about half the US$1.5 billion Glazer would need to gain complete control of the 127-year-old soccer club.
Tampa Bay beat the Oakland Raiders 48-21 in January 2003 to win the Super Bowl, their only NFL title since joining the league in 1976.
