LONDON - Arsenal have reclaimed second place in the Premier League with a tense 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at Highbury.
Dutchman Dennis Bergkamp scored the winner after 19 minutes on Sunday to lift the champions above Manchester United, although they still trail runaway leaders Chelsea by 10 points.
With 14 games to go, Chelsea have 61 points, Arsenal 51 and United 50. Chelsea beat Portsmouth 3-0 on Saturday, United were 3-1 winners over Aston Villa on Saturday.
Bergkamp, now 35, finished neatly after 19 minutes to settle a bad-tempered match. Only some fine goalkeeping by Newcastle's Shay Given and wasteful Arsenal finishing kept the score down.
