He has played more minutes than any other striker this season and is a Fantasy Football player's dream. Yet Robin van Persie's superhuman feats are being overshadowed by his under-performing team and headline-grabbing striker counterparts.
The Dutchman is, quite simply, in a league of his own right now. As faltering Arsenal finally found some form against Blackburn at the Emirates with a resounding 7-1 victory, the captain became only the fourth Arsenal player to score more than 20 goals in a single Premier League season.
The statistics speak for themselves. Van Persie has been involved in 29 goals so far - more than any other player - with 22 to his name and seven assists. He kicked Dennis Bergkamp out of the Gunners' top ten all-time scorers list by taking his overall tally to 123 in 264 games.
But his blistering streak of form will count for nothing, as Arsenal languish in sixth place.
He has scored almost half of their goals this year. Seeing van Persie on the scoresheet each week has become the norm, but it is a travesty his achievements probably won't yield any silverware for his team. The FA Cup represents the Gunners' best chance of taking home a pot, but Arsene Wenger will be hell-bent on the more important task of finishing within the top four.
Other strikers have also unfairly stolen the limelight from RVP throughout the season. Liverpool's Luis Suarez served an eight-game suspension after he was found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra. He returned against Tottenham and wasted no time in courting controversy again by kicking Scott Parker in the stomach.
Man City pair Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli have consistently provided material for journalists with their antics, and Thierry Henry's return to Arsenal drew messiah-type reactions from Gunners supporters. All the while, van Persie has gone about his business with some brilliant solo performances.
While Arsenal fans will enjoy waxing lyrical about their prolific hitman, they face the very real prospect of a Cesc Fabregas-type scenario come the end of the season.
There was a hint of discontent on the striker's part when Arsene Wenger subbed off Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for Andrey Arshavin against Man United - he was visibly angry at the tactical decision.
If a move away becomes a more attractive alternative, it will be difficult for van Persie to resist the overtures of Barcelona - especially when his former captain is beckoning him over from Camp Nou.
