Chris Chang takes a look back at some of the highs and lows of the Premier League season.
Match of the season
Without doubt the most exhilarating game came at the very end. Manchester City's title dream looked dead and buried against QPR, 2-1 down as the clock ticked away. But if football fans ever needed a reminder that you should never leave before the final whistle, this was it. Edin Dzeko's equaliser lit the flame of hope before Sergio Aguero sent one half of Manchester into absolute ecstasy. A simply incredible finale.
Best commentary
Gary Neville's hilarious reaction to Fernando Torres' goal at Camp Nou was commentary gold. But Sergio Aguero's title winner cut across cultures. The commentary sounds even better when sung by an Argentinian, Icelander, or Frenchman. (Warning: if you're listening to this at work, turn down the volume).
Goal of the season
Some people say Papiss Cisse's wonder strike against Chelsea defied physics. It was sumptuous, as it cannoned of the outside of his boot and swerved over the despairing Petr Cech. But whenever Peter Crouch's lanky limbs coordinate to demonstrate technique with balletic grace and precision, you know it's going to be good. His stunner against City was the best of year and a reminder that the 6ft 7ins striker can actually play quite well at times.
Bargain buy
Ok, it might have been harsh to give Crouchy the 'goal of the season' honour over Cissé, but the Senegalese superstar was surely the best signing of the year. Newcastle took a punt on signing a Bundesliga player and it's reaped dividends. He bagged 13 goals in 14 games, including two beauties against Chelsea. Keeping a hold of him this summer will be a huge challenge for Alan Pardew. It would be fantastic to see his partnership with Demba Ba develop.
Colourful characters
There have been a plenty of players who have astounded, bemused, and entertained this year. Somehow, Roberto Mancini steered Manchester City to a league title, even with wayward duo Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli among the ranks. But when it comes to certifiable nutters, Joey Barton just edges it after a blockbuster brain explosion in QPR's final game. With relegation on the cards, the captain floored Tevez and earned a straight red card. Just to make the walk of shame a bit more memorable, he kicked Sergio Aguero from behind, before attempting to headbutt Vincent Kompany. True to form, he defended himself on his preferred medium, Twitter, and took some swipes at "odious little toad" Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer. Classy.
