During Ecuador's 3-0 World Cup qualifier victory against Chile, Ecuador forward Enner Valencia found himself in a spot of trouble.
With about ten minutes left in the match, Valencia complained of altitude sickness and was taken from game on a cart. At the same time, police were arriving to detain him as he was wanted for questioning over unpaid child support. According to El Universo, Valencia owes his ex-wife around NZ$23,700.
Valencia managed to evade the police and was taken to a nearby hospital. This was allegedly the third time the police had tried to detain him. The first instance was at training, and the second occurred as the Ecuador team bus arrived at the stadium.
