'Eventful' chess event
The Chess Olympiad in Norway was rocked by the deaths of two competitors who suffered heart attacks - capping off a strange event.
Hundreds of spectators at the 41st Chess Olympiad in Norway, along with TV viewers, watched on as Kurt Meier, 67, of the Seychelles team collapsed during his final match. He died later in hospital. Hours later, a player from Uzbekistan was found dead in his hotel room.
Last week the women's team from Burundi were disqualified after failing to show up for their round six and seven matches; they remain unaccounted for.
Tarjei J Svensen, a reporter for chess24.com, told the Guardian the event had a reputation for heavy drinking.
"There are two rest days during the competition, and particularly the night before the rest days there tends to be a lot of drinking," he said.
"It has been an eventful Olympiad, certainly," said Svensen.
Your move Beyonce
The ice bucket movement is so last month on our shores but it's really taking off across the rest of the world. The latest to get involved is Real Madrid superduper star Cristiano Ronaldo who was challenged by Manchester United's, not a superduper star, Darren Fletcher.
After taking on the task, Ronaldo went on to name Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Lil Wayne as his three nominees to undertake the next challenge.
Expect it to get around to Queen Elizabeth my next week.
Streaker's strike
A pitch invader ran onto the field during West Ham's opening Premier League defeat to Tottenham - managing to take a Spurs free kick which almost went in the goal.
