PRAGUE (AP) Police say investigators have detained an unspecified number of players who are suspected of match-fixing in the Czech Republic.
Police spokesman Jaroslav Ibehej says the suspects are from various divisions within the game and that their activities are linked to betting.
He said police would not provide any further details on Wednesday.
Czech public radio and television reported that dozens of footballers may have been detained, mostly from lower divisions but some also from the top Czech league.
Frantisek Hrdlicka, director of first division club Teplice, told public radio that several his players are being investigated, but gave no details.
