It's now cheaper to sponsor Beyoncé or Kim Kardashian than footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese football star makes US$750,000 (NZ$1,113,000) per sponsored post on Instagram according to a study published by British website Hooper last week. It's almost twice what he asked last year (NZ$594,000) and the price could double by 2019.
Other football players Neymar, Messi and Beckham are far behind, the Englishman requiring US$300,000 per sponsored post on the social media platform. MMA star Conor McGregor and basketball player Stephen Curry also appear in the top 10.
Ronaldo is the third highest paid celebrity influencer on Instagram, after Americans Kylie Jenner and Selena Gomez. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner promotes nutrition products, training gears and recently a sleep tracking mobile app to his 138 million Instagram followers.
The new Juventus player is the most popular person on the social media, holding 335 million followers (1st on Facebook, 2nd on Instagram, and 8th on Twitter).
