MEXICO CITY (AP) Chivas dropped to last place in Mexico's first division on Sunday after losing 3-1 to Pachuca, while bitter rivals America drew 1-1 with Cruz Azul in an earlier weekend match to remain atop the league standings with three rounds remaining.
Santos Laguna improved to second after winning 3-2 against Monterrey on Friday, when Leon slipped to third with a 2-0 loss to Queretaro.
In other weekend results, Toluca and Tijuana had a 0-0 draw, Puebla defeated Atlas 2-0, Tigres overcame Atlante 3-1, Veracruz won 1-0 against Morelia and Chiapas drew 1-1 with Pumas.
Chivas have won just once in 13 games this Apertura - the first of Mexico's two split championships - in one of the worst seasons in the popular club's recent history.
Rafa Marquez Lugo gave Chivas the lead in the 21st minute, but goals from Jurgen Damm and Othoniel Arce edged Pachuca ahead before halftime.
