Portuguese defender Bruno Alves has been sent off this morning in their final pre-European Championship friendly fixture against England this morning (NZT) at Wembley Stadium in London for a horrific and dangerous tackle on England striker Harry Kane.
Alves, who plays his club football for Turkish side Fenerbahçe, came flying in for an attempted tackle on English Premier League golden boot winner Kane, but got his timing and execution horribly wrong, resulting in a flying, studs-up kick into Kane's face.
The defender was almost immediately sent off by Italian referee Marco Guida, despite the protests of Alves' Portuguese teammates, the first time a player has been sent off in an England fixture at Wembley since 2012.
The second half of the match has just kicked off, with the scores all level at 0-0, despite England having a one-man advantage.
