BARCELONA, Spain (AP) Barcelona says it has extended its agreement to donate 1.5 million euros ($2 million) per year to UNICEF, keeping the children's aid organization's logo on the back of its jersey until 2016.
The Spanish league club says the two-year extension maintains a relationship started in 2006, when the logo was displayed on the front of the shirt.
It has been relegated to the back since club officials signed a 30 million euro per season ($40 million) deal with Qatar Sports Investment in 2011 that put corporate advertising on its jersey for the first time since its founding in 1899.
Barcelona says the deal has helped alleviate the club's finances and payroll, which includes UNICEF goodwill ambassador Lionel Messi.
Qatar Airways is currently on the front of the team's jerseys.
