AMSTERDAM (AP) United States international Aron Johannsson scored twice on his 23rd birthday Sunday to help AZ Alkmaar earn a 2-2 draw at Feyenoord.
The stalemate means Vitesse Arnhem remained top of the Eredivisie after beating Utrecht 3-1 a day earlier.
"I can't remember scoring on my birthday," said Johannsson, who was born in the United States to Icelandic parents, grew up in Iceland and spent three years at Danish club Aarhus. "In Iceland, we didn't play in November and I can't remember scoring a birthday goal in Denmark. It's a great feeling."
Earlier Sunday, Ajax followed up its midweek Champions League win over Celtic by beating NEC 3-0 in Nijmegen thanks to a brace by Siem de Jong and a goal from Nicolai Boilesen.
PSV's woeful away form continued when it squandered a lead to lose 2-1 at NAC Breda thanks to two second-half goals by defender Kees Kwakman.
