MADRID (AP) Atletico Madrid says defender Juanfran Torres has agreed to a contract extension until the end of the 2016-17 season.
The 28-year-old Torres joined Atletico in 2010 from Osasuna as an attacking midfielder but has become its first-choice right back.
He has helped Atletico win the 2012 Europa League and the 2013 Copa del Rey and qualify for this season's Champions League.
Atletico has started the Spanish league season with three wins in as many games. It opens the Champions League on Wednesday at home against Zenit St. Petersburg.
