SAO PAULO (AP) Atletico Mineiro midfielder Richarlyson has been ruled out of the Club World Cup after picking up a serious knee injury in training.
Tests on Tuesday showed Richarlyson will miss the tournament hosted by Morocco in December after sustaining the injury on Monday.
The news comes just days after doctors said star playmaker Ronaldinho may not recover in time for the event after picking up a left leg muscle injury. The former Brazil midfielder is expected to be sidelined for about three months.
Defending Copa Libertadores champion Atletico Mineiro will be playing the Club World Cup for the first time. Brazil's Corinthians beat Chelsea in last year's final.
Champions League winner Bayern Munich also plays in this year's edition.
