WEST BROMWICH, England (AP) Former France striker Nicolas Anelka is expected to resume training with West Bromwich Albion on Thursday after returning from compassionate leave.
Anelka left the Premier League club last week following the death of one of his representatives, hinting at the time that he could quit football.
He has missed two matches but West Brom said he will be back in training following a meeting with coach Steve Clarke and could play against Swansea on Sunday.
Anelka, who also played for Premier League clubs Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bolton and Chelsea, joined West Brom this summer on a one-year deal with an option for a further season.
