SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Forward Jozy Altidore has earned his first Futbol de Primera U.S. national team player of the year award.
The 24-year-old received 233 points and 52 first-place votes in media balloting released Tuesday. Michael Bradley was second with 176 points and 34 first, followed by Landon Donovan with 127 points and 24 firsts.
Altidore scored eight goals in 14 international appearances this year, raising his total to 21 goals in 66 matches since 2007. He became the first U.S. player to score in five straight games.
Last week, Altidore was selected the U.S. Soccer Federation's Male Athlete of the Year for the first time.
