All Whites striker Shane Smeltz opened his account with Turkish soccer club Glenclerbirligi with a 45th minute penalty overnight (NZT).
The goal was Smeltz's first for the club, and saw them edge out Ankaragucu 1-0 to move into ninth place in the 18-team Turkish league.
It was Smeltz's third game for the club after he walked out of Chinese club Shandong Luneng FC five days into a two-year contract early last month.
He returned briefly to A-League club Gold Coast United for two games in mid-August before signing a two-year deal with Glenclerbirligi.
