Michael O'Keefe has joined the All Whites in Honiara as goalkeeping cover for Mark Paston, who is still struggling after picking up a head knock in the opening game of the tournament against Fiji.
A decision will be made on Paston today, with coach Ricki Herbert rating his chances of staying in the 23-man squad as "50:50''.
Teams are allowed to bring in replacement goalkeepers only at the Oceania Nations Cup.
Herbert already has two other goalkeepers with Jake Gleeson and Glen Moss but there is also caution around Moss who is coming back from a torn abductor.
Moss, who is a quality goalkeeper but lost the No 1 jersey to Paston in 2010 because of the suspension he took into the World Cup, might start in Friday's semifinal against New Caledonia. It's a similar injury to the one All Blacks first five-eighths Dan Carter suffered at last year's World Cup and, like Carter, Moss is struggling with kicking the ball.
Gleeson has done a reasonable job without looking totally assured and Moss' experience would be an asset in what is a must-win against New Caledonia.
