Bahrain have lost leading goal scorer Ala'a Hubail for next month's World Cup qualifier against the All Whites in Wellington.
He has torn knee ligaments and is out for six months.
Hubail came off the bench in the goalless first leg against the All Whites in Manama.
Meanwhile, world governing body FIFA has rejected New Zealand Football's plan to add temporary pitch-side seating to Wellington Stadium for the second leg.
It was hoped an extra 3,000 seats would be allowed, but chief executive Michael Glading says FIFA does not allow any pitch-side seats because of security.
Glading says they are working with officials to install about 300 seats in the stadium tunnels.
