All Whites' pair Simon Elliott and Andrew Boyens have both signed with MLS side Chivas USA, it was announced today.
Elliott and Boyens were both members of the New Zealand squad that drew all three group matches at last year's FIFA World Cup.
Chivas USA are a Mexican-owned club based in Los Angeles and joined the MLS in 2004. They have made the playoffs four times but had a poor season last year winning just eight of their 30 games.
36-year-old midfielder Elliott has eight years experience in the MLS but has been looking for a club side since playing 90 minutes in all three of the All Whites' World Cup clashes.
Elliott played four matches for the Wellington Phoenix this season during a temporary contract before heading back to the US.
Elliott has previously played with the LA Galaxy (1999-2003), Columbus Crew (2004-2005) and San Jose Earthquakes (2009) in MLS, as well as English Premier League side Fulham (2006-2008).
27-year-old Boyens is also no stranger to the MLS having played more than 50 games for Toronto FC and the New York Red Bulls but has struggled for game time lately.
"These signings give us depth and experience in the middle of the field," said Chivas USA Head Coach Robin Fraser said in a press release.
"I have known Simon for a long time; he'll be able to help us both on and off the field, and we saw in the World Cup last summer what he's capable of. Andrew is a solid central defender with international experience who will be a good addition to our backline."
Both players will be eligible for Chivas USA pending receipt of their international transfer certificates (ITC).
The MLS season starts on March 15.
