All Whites striker Ryan Thomas scored twice in PEC Zwolle's sensational 5-1 cup final victory over champions Ajax.
Two quick strikes from the Te Puke teenager in the first quarter of the match turned around an early 0-1 setback and set his team on the way to the most unlikely of victories.
After the match Thomas and his teammates could hardly believe what had happened.
"We hoped to catch them out with a sneaky win like 2-1, but 5-1 ... nobody expected that," the 19-year-old told Dutch reporters.
Ajax, the Dutch champions, are set to claim their fourth title on the trot and PEC Zwolle, who are in the middle of the Eredivisie table, started the match as rank outsiders.
