All Whites striker Chris Wood has made a winning start for his English Premier League club although he failed to trouble the scorers.
Wood produced a busy display but his finishing was awry after being introduced off the bench in the 43rd minute of Burnley's Carabao Cup second-round match away to Blackburn Rovers on Thursday (NZT).
The 25-year-old's debut came just two days after completing the details of a Burnley-record STG15 million ($NZ26 million) move from Championship division club Leeds United.
Wood scored 30 goals in all competitions for Leeds last season but his ability to finish wasn't on show at Ewood Park.
Soon after replacing veteran Irish international Jonathan Walters, Wood's shot on goal was well saved by goalkeeper David Maya.
