The All Whites play their final match of 2015 against Oman on Friday morning (NZ time) with a clear understanding of how they want to approach the challenge in front of them at the Al Seeb Stadium in Muscat.
Having spent the last two days on the training pitch, the group are ready to face the 92nd-ranked side - yet to lose in five 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers played so far this year - with the aim of netting their first win of the year after a tight 1-0 loss to Korea Republic in March and a 1-1 draw with Myanmar in September.
Melbourne Victory forward Kosta Barbarouses said the team have been focussed since their arrival in Muscat working in a system he says is well-suited his own game.
"It suits me perfectly, I've been at the Victory for my third season now and that's pretty much exactly how we set up," Barbarouses said.
"We like to press high up on the field so for me it's almost the same sort of set up. It's a little bit different positionally, but it's a similar philosophy so it works well for me."
