You can't question Rory Fallon's positivity.

However impossible next week's assignment in Wellington may appear, All Whites striker Rory Fallon maintains that the team has to believe that "anything is possible".

The All Whites have a massive four goal deficit to overhaul at Westpac Stadium, and will have to do it without the suspended Chris Wood, Ivan Vicelich and Leo Bertos. The situation should also suit the Mexicans, who can now afford to sit back in numbers and catch the All Whites on the counter attack.

But Fallon remains hopeful that the situation is not irretrievable, but it has to start with a much better performance.

"We all let ourselves down with that performance at the Azteca," said the 31-year-old.

"We need to prove to ourselves and our fans that we are a much better team than showed. We have bounced back before and I am confident we can do it again."

With the absence of Wood, Fallon is a prime contender to start next week, though Shane Smeltz will also come back into contention among the attacking mix.

A crestfallen Vicelich agreed with Fallon's sentiments, saying that there is still much more football to be played.

"Who knows what could happen," says Vicelich. "They won't like the conditions in Wellington and what if we grab a couple of goals in the first half like they did to us? Then they might start looking over their shoulders."

The All Whites left Mexico this morning, and after an extended stopover in Los Angeles, arrive back in New Zealand on Saturday morning.
