SYDNEY (AP) Australian champions Central Coast say coach Graham Arnold is poised to join a "successful top-flight side", probably in Japan.
In a statement Wednesday, Central Coast general manager Peter Turnbull said the Mariners expected "to know for certain by no later than Sunday whether or not Graham has finalized a deal in Asia."
Turnbull said assistant coach Phil Moss would be promoted to the head coaching role.
Australian media had reported Arnold was likely headed for Japan's J-League.
He had been mentioned as a candidate for head coach of Australia, but that had gone to Melbourne Victory coach Ange Postecoglou.
