The wreck of a Japanese squid boat is clearly visible on the chart, 3km Nor West of Rakino Island.
These days it is often covered in sand but it still seems to hold many fish.
Ideal conditions are on an incoming tide with a light northerly wind or on the outgoing tide with a light wind from the south.
Find the wreck on your sounder and mark on your GPS exactly where the fish are holding.
Do a dummy drift to work out exactly the best line, using a sea anchor if necessary to control your speed.
Fish with a ledger rig or a shop-bought flasher rig, 10kg tackle, 6/0 re-curve hooks and a 4oz sinker.
It is of paramount importance to make sure that the sinker is brushing the bottom and attracting attention by kicking up a little bit of silt as you drift down the side of the wreck.
Cut baits like squid and mullet seem to work best - this can be a reliable spot to get a healthy feed of school snapper.
Next week's spot: Surfcasting at Langs Beach.
