This spot should be starting to fire about now and it is only 10 minutes from downtown Auckland. Turn into Beaumont Street at Westhaven and follow down to the end of the point, just past the tank farm. Park by the cable marker and fish from the rock wall.
For best results you will need to cast 60m plus into the channel and the moderately strong current with a B.O.S sinker to stop your line dragging over the light foul bottom. Use a running rig and either squid or pilchards for bait.
The ideal time to fish this spot is at night on an incoming tide. Be wary of vessels entering and leaving the marina, you may need to politely signal them to move further out.
