A look back on all the Fantasy studs and duds from the weekend's Super 15 action as well as the MVPs of the 2013 season.
Chiefs 27 Brumbies 22
The star: Liam Messam (35 points) - He was man of the match in real life and also in the fantasy world. He's been a top five back rower all season long and was the premier option for the final - so well done to those who plugged him into their side as their captain.
The dud: Sam Cane (8 points) - Cane took a backseat for much of the second half of the season to Tanirau Latimer and this happened again in the final. Despite this, he finished the season as the fifth-highest scoring back rower in our league.
Value pick: George Smith (20 points) - Smith was a revelation this season and put on another huge performance in the final. He was one of the cheapest back-row options going into this game and punched well above his price tag.
2013 NZ Herald Fantasy Super Rugby MVPs
Front row: James Slipper (191 points) - Slipper took out top-scoring honours largely due to his health. Arno Botha, Deon Fourie and Ged Robinson all had better points-per-game averages, but Slipper played more games and, thus, came out on top.
Second row: Brodie Retallick (250 points) - Retallick blitzed his rivals in total points and average points-per-game. The undisputed king of the locks.
Back row: Matt Todd (344 points) - The absence of Richie McCaw from Super Rugby gave Todd his chance to shine. He scored double-digit fantasy points in every game this season - a remarkable fantasy feat.
Half back: Tawera Kerr-Barlow (147 points) - Kerr-Barlow proved to be the most productive fantasy scorer in the least productive fantasy position in our game. No other half back came close to the Chiefs nine's average score.
Five eighth: Morne Steyn (345 points) - Steyn takes out the title of not only the highest scoring five eighth but also the highest-scoring player in our fantasy competition. However, if Dan Carter had played a full season he may have proven to be more valuable, as his game-average was slightly higher than the Steyn's.
Back: Robert Ebersohn (244 points) - A slightly unexpected name on this list, Ebersohn earned his place via a consistent tackle count as well as more turnovers than Matt Todd. Keep him on your radar as a cheap pickup for next season.
