KEY POINTS:
New Zealand's Andrew Nicholson followed up a superb cross-country effort with solid showjumping rounds on both his mounts to finish with two horses in the top 10 at the Badminton Horse Trials in England today (NZT).
Britain's Lucinda Fredericks won the event, leading from the front on Headley Britannia to finish ahead of Andreas Dibowski (Germany) on FRH Serve Well and Kim Severson (Untied States) with Winsome Adante.
Nicholson's Henry Tankerville started the day in sixth place, while Lord Killinghurst was ninth after the cross-country.
Nicholson, who now has the unique record of 26 Badminton completions under his belt, lifted Lord Killinghurst to fifth place, finishing on the same number of penalties as fourth-placed Matt Ryan (Australia) and Bonza Katoomba.
Eleven-year-old Henry Tankerville, like Headley Britannia sired by the British stallion Jumbo, finished eighth.
New Zealanders Joe Meyer and Caroline Powell also finished strongly. Meyer and Snip, who moved up from 27th place after the dressage to 11th following the cross-country, took seventh place overall after the final showjumping round.
Powell, on Lenamore, 38th after the dressage, was in 16th place after the cross-country and improved four further places to finish 12th overall.
