Simon Wilson got a first and third in the first of the big classes on the opening day of the Horse of the Year Show in Hastings yesterday. Riding Vita Power Right Royal, Wilson was first up in the five horse jump-off, eventually winning with his clear round of 39.28s.
Wilson also impressed with his second mount Vita Power Swinger, getting third place from a clear round of 40.18s.
Defending champion Robert Steele of Hawera came second on Gospel with a clear round of 39.96s, and Sue Thompson and Air Hill the Rajah's 37.89s came with four faults, leaving her fourth ahead of Dannevirke's Maurice Beatson on My Gollywog.
