New Zealand cantered off with the Trans Tasman Trophy at the national equestrian three-day event at Taupo today, claiming the prize for the ninth time out of 10 clashes since 1985.
It was a particularly satisfying win, following suggestions that New Zealand's eventing equestrians were a spent force after almost 20 years at or near the top of the world.
New Zealand's Megan Finlayson won the individual three-star title with 58.4 penalty points. Australia's Tarsha Hammond was second on 66.8.
New Zealand picked up a total of 205 penalty points and the Australians 252.4.
