Jock Paget and Tim Price have positioned themselves ideally for a strong push in the cross country stage at the Kentucky four star eventing trial tomorrow.
With half of the field of 70 having completed their dressage phase yesterday, Paget and Price sat sixth and eighth equal aboard Clifton Signature and Bango respectively.
Olympic team bronze medal winner in London four years ago, Paget put up a performance with 47.5 penalty points to be 13.1 points behind the early leader, German star Michael Jung on Fisherrocana FST.
That, however, is a small margin to make up with a strong cross country display.
Price scored 48.3 points on Bango to sit level with American Katie Ruppel on Houdini. A third of the five Kiwis in Kentucky, American-based Joe Meyer on Clip Clop, is 27th after incurring 60.6 points.
