KEY POINTS:
New Zealand's Andrew Nicholson, third after the first day of dressage at the Badminton horse trials in England, slipped down the field after the second half of the field completed their tests overnight.
Nicholson, 45, and his first horse Henry Tankerville are now lying 14th-equal on 45.2 penalty points and with his more experienced horse Lord Killinghurst he is 18th-equal on 46.2.
First-day leaders Australia's Lucinda Fredericks and Headley, on 34.8, head the 77-strong field going into the cross country phase. But American Kim Severson and Winsome Adante are hot on their heels just one penalty in arrears. Germany's Hinrich Romeike and his World Equestrian Games team gold medallist Marius Voigt-Logistik are just 0.6 penalties behind.
Next best of the New Zealanders competing, Joe Meyer and Snip are 27th on 48.2.
