One of New Zealand's greatest equestrians wants to get back in the game.
Four time Olympic medallist and Four time World Champion Blyth Tait is targeting a comeback in time for the Rio Olympics.
Tait tried and failed to fight his way into the equestrian squad for the 2012 Olympics, but believes he is better prepared to make a run at it this time round.
He says he wants to develop a number of horses to the four star level himself and get out and compete on the international circuit.
Tait who is competing at the Puhinui International Three day Event this week says he relishes the challenge that comes with trying to make an Olympic team.
He says there are 10 people vying for a four man team and that competitiveness drives him.
The 53 year old admits his attempt to make the London Olympics was a rushed effort.
He concedes it was a last minute ditch attempt but is still spurred on by the challenge of rising to the top again.
Blyth Tait is adamant everything this time round has been given more thought and passion.
He says he has three horses in the UK that he's got to three star from scratch and hopes the one he is riding this weekend can also be used for his road to Rio.
