Waikato equestrian Jody Hartstone has won the Prix St Georges Derby at the Sydney international dressage competition.
Hartstone also teamed up with Charlott Bayliss, of Cambridge, who was fourth in the individual event, to win the teams event in the derby.
"They won by more than five percentage points from Japan so it was a great effort," Dressage New Zealand sport manager Wendy Hamerton said yesterday.
In the main event, the grand prix freestyle, Hartstone and her black stallion Landioso finished third behind Australian winner, Rachael Sanna.
Bill Noble, of Auckland, was sixth, less than one percentage point behind Hartstone.
Blenheim rider Angela Fergusson notched up two fifths at St Prix St Georges level.
