KEY POINTS:
The Cambridge Festival of Showjumping turned into a Beatson benefit when father Maurice and his son Jamie starred in all the main classes yesterday.
Beatson senior solidified his lead on the New Zealand World Cup qualifying series standings with a decisive win on My Gollywog in the second round.
The former Olympian and Catherine Cameron, of Cambridge, were the only riders from the 12 starters to go clear over the Bay of Plenty course.
Beatson, of Dannevirke, was first out in the jumpoff and came home clear in 39.49 seconds.
Despite her faster time of 36.96s, Cameron had to settle for second after dropping a rail.
Beatson has 28 points in the six-round series, with Cambridge's Katie McVean, who was third yesterday on Hairy McLairy, second with 21 points.
Jamie Beatson won the 1.3m Cambridge Cup on Goldilocks and was fifth in the 1.4m horse on Aberdeen Road.
