CLERMONT-MONTFERRAND, France (AP) French rugby has enticed another leading Wales player to the lucrative Top 14 with Jonathan Davies agreeing to join Clermont-Auvergne on a two-year deal from next season.
The 25-year-old British and Irish Lions center will strike up a fearsome midfield partnership with Wesley Fofana for Clermont, which lost to Toulon in the final of last season's Heineken Cup.
Clermont sporting director Jean-Marc Lhermet says on Tuesday that Davies "possesses enormous experience of high-level matches despite his young age and is one of the best players in the world in his position."
Davies will join in July and has the option of an extra season at Clermont.
Jamie Roberts, James Hook, Luke Charteris, Gethin Jenkins and Dan Lydiate are among the players to have left Wales for France in recent seasons.
